Highlander

SEK 1,915.00

NOTE: VAT is applied at checkout for EU customers. Non-EU customers may be subject to import duties and taxes.

NOTE II: with the ongoing situation in the Middle East increasing shipping prices worldwide shipping prices can’t be fully set correctly. To hopefully reduce the current prices of shipping I’ve decided to not add shipping at checkout for pre-orders. Shipping will be payed before delivery of the completed pedal instead.

DISCLAIMER - Product pictures are renderings of the pedal. Pictures will update with the arrival of the first batch.

Highlander is a drive pedal based on the classic Expandora topology, adjusted with a more modern and balanced voicing. It has a clear sense of identity, but with a balanced and controlled voicing.

The gain range spans from gritty overdrive and crunchy drive, through distortion, all the way to chaotic fuzz in the final “forbidden mode”, true to its Expandora roots. Rather than aiming for extreme transparency or a single signature sound, Highlander is designed to provide drive character with a broad gain range, and feel good doing it.

This is my first pedal, designed and built from the ground up. The circuit, layout, and assembly have all been developed through hands-on testing and iteration, with an emphasis on feel and musical usability across different guitars and amplifiers.

Controls:

  • Gain – Controls the amount of drive and distortion. Lower settings stay clean and dynamic, higher settings push into heavier saturation.

  • Tone – Controls overall brightness. Lower settings are darker, higher settings are brighter.

  • Volume – Sets the output level. Less is less, more is more.

  • Contour – Contour lets you dial in how hard the low-end pushes the gainstage. Lower settings are tight and focused, while higher settings allow more low-end through for thicker, heavier tones.

  • I / II – Select different clipping configurations. The Highlander offers four clipping characters, ranging from open overdrive and crunchy drive, through distortion, all the way to a full-blown, chaotic fuzz in the final “forbidden mode”, true to its Expandora inspiration.

  • Low-cut – tightens up the bottom end. The controls positioning in the signal chain lets you force lows through the gainstaging (the contour control) but still tighten it up if needed.

  • Sparkle – Adds a gentle touch of sparkling high end independent of the tone control. This lets you darken up your overall tone without making it dull, pushing some sparkle through.
